I bought this for my son, since I just bought WoW without the expansion.
With the assumption that you’ve decided you want to play WoW, all the way up to lvl 70, this is the package for you. You get WoW and expansion, which would cost $ 50 if purchased separately. You also get two strategy guides, but the leadership’s strategy for expansion (see my review here of World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade Official Strategy Guide (World of Warcraft)) is terribly lacking, so we’re really looking at one of value, driving a crappy guide. What we also get, nor the box mentions this is the game on DVD! Oh, how many times I installed and reinstalled the original WoW on multiple computers at home and at my friends, swap discs. Well, nothing more! Unless you were lucky and bought the original edition Collector’s Edition World of Warcraft Collector’s Edition and World of Warcraft Burning Crusade Collector’s, you’re stuck with 4 CDs each, instead of 1 DVD.
Overall, I would buy (in fact, I did).

I got this after running a free trial to 10 days from Blizzard. After about 3-4 days of the trial I was pretty hooked, and decided that it was worth the money to get the full version of the game. (Difference very limited in the trial version so it’s definitely worth a try before you buy the full version.)
I’m not usually into games like this a long time, but after seeing a lot of different things about the game (including a very funny episode of South Park), I decided to check in a little ‘more.
I am told that the game is much more fun if you can play with people you know, but you must not do anything. I found almost all the people I met in the game to be a great help and understanding for new players so that makes it easy to get into the game and get what you want out of it.
I encourage people to make sure the software test and see how you like it, but I’m confident most people who play video games will find some part of this fun.

If you’re thinking of World of Warcraft (WoW), then it will not be long before you want to update the burning crusades so I recommend just getting the battle chest, because it saves and get two other books. If you are unsure of playing the game you can always download the software for 10 days free trial to see if you like the game, but be warned that this is a game and will have a huge download time (> 4 gigabytes.
