Customer Reviews

This computer is a substitute for a relative’s old Dell Dimension system. I bought it and it was created for him. Personally I have several Windows XP me, 1 Vista, and 1 Snow Leopard (iMac) and I know a lot of computers and networking, so this review will be above those thoughts in mind as I write.

Positive

* Monitor (5 / 5)
The 22 included, “said one screen, exceptionally strong, and I have no complaints about everyone. Ideal size, and it works very well at Mid-range settings (I like 1920×1200 but lower resolutions are still strong, unlike the experience I’ve had in the past with other computers and monitors).

* Windows 7 (5 / 5)
I can not find anything to complain 7. E ‘intuitive and does everything I need easily and without having to go through hoops. I was aware of the previous releases of Windows, so there was virtually no learning curve for me with 7. I am also a big fan of Snow Leopard, but now with 7, in my mind are almost equal.

* Box (5 / 5)
The piano black looks nice. I like the DVD drive and card reader slots are covered when not in use to ward off dust. Runs quiet, so that is much appreciated. I also prefer the Intel vs AMD, and so it came with 6MB of RAM and a hard drive large.

* Keyboard (4 / 5)
The keyboard supplied is basic, and it is a USB connection (not wireless). It works well, and without frills. No complaints.

* Speakers (3 / 5)
The speakers are slim and very light. They will not get real loud, but are fine for basic needs. If you are planning on doing something like watching movies frequently, you may consider updating them. Definitely good for everyday use though.

* Performance (5 / 5)
For the needs of my relative (internet, email, YouTube, etc.), this is perfect. Video works great, and the rate of 7 is satisfactory. I did some comparative tests, and the processor and the high score driven, with the fall just for the graphics abilities. Nobody will notice, however, unless there are hard core gaming.

* Amazon (5 / 5)!
The price is fantastic, and is actually a much better deal than I could get from Dell directly (at least as of this writing, offers change all the time). Also appreciated the $ 3.99 1-day shipping! I am a member of the First so I could get a free 2-day shipping, but I wanted to make sure it was delivered when someone would be here so that the 1-day has been fantastic.

Negative

* Mice (2 / 5)
The mouse is also a USB connection (not wireless), and is pretty cheap. The optical and tracks, but you only hear the real economy. I will probably replace with a wireless mouse better.

* Dell supplied software (1 / 5)
The only real problem I’m having is the Dell supplied the software crashes repeatedly. None of this is very useful, so I turned off and all is well. Please note that this is NOT a problem in Windows 7, but a problem with the utility software. I suspect that will have the update that resolves the problem, but for now, it liked to crash, so I just disabled. I also uninstalled the anti-virus software provided and installed one that I like most is free, but that is just a personal choice.

Total:
I am very happy with this computer! The hardware (except for the mouse) is better than expected, especially the monitor. I would recommend this setup without hesitation, especially for those who are mostly going to do e-mail and internet. This agreement is a stellar way, and I think a lot of money.

Thanks for reading.

UPDATE 11/29/09: I made the purchase of the Logitech Cordless Desktop Wave Pro keyboard and mouse set to replace those supplied Dell for this system. This was an update of the fantastic! I recommend the Wave Pro setup. It integrates well with Windows 7, and has dedicated buttons on the mouse and keyboard for Aero among other things. With this mouse and keyboard, I like the system even better.
